Between Bergville and Harrismith will you find Alpine Heath, one of the best family-orientated resorts we visited in a long time.  Over 70 self-catering chalets are on offer, all fully equipped for six people. One paraplegic chalet is also on offer.

The chalets have three bedrooms each, the main bedroom upstairs with double bed and en suite shower, with two bedrooms on the ground level each with two single beds. Braai facilities, outside table and chairs, DSTV, and a fireplace are standard. Some chalets may have a bit of a walk from the parking bays so pack light. Chalets are serviced every day.

We love Alpine Heath for a number of reasons. It has excellent conferencing facilities, It is fully geared for a family holiday, and it makes for a perfect halfway stop between Gauteng and the KZN coast. Entertainment for children is standard during school holidays and weekends with game rooms, movies and adult-supervised activities. A convenience shop and eateries are on site for the hungry. A bar for the thirsty, a gym for the energetic and a chapel for the romantics. Then there also is a spa for the ones in need of a bit of pampering. Putt-putt, outdoor chess, and swimming pools are some of the other facilities available.

Hiking can take you into the maintains, crossing streams and if you are lucky you may dig out a geocache. Horse riding also is a favourite activity among visitors. With all of these facilities, there really is no need to leave the premises until it is time to go home.
