Doorndraai Lodge is a 20 minutes drive to the North-West of Rooiberg.  The caravan park is a 4-star graded facility and certainly on of the best camping sites we have been to.

Each site has it’s own private ablution block, large boma with braai grids, and paved area. Sites are partially fenced for privacy and all have electricity.

A splash pool is available at at the camp site to cool down on hot days.

There is no dangerous game and runners and cyclists have kilometers of sandy and rocky tracks to have fun on – from the low-lying areas to the higher, mountainous ridges. Game include giraffe, gemsbok and eland. Leopard and brown hyena have been spotted but are shy in general and will not posses a threat unless cornered.  More dangerous game like buffalo are kept in a different camp in the farm.

This is one of those place where we could relax. We explored large areas on the farm by foot and vehicle (vehicle apparently not allowed but when asked about it the first time the security guard at gate told us we can drive wherever there is a road) and loved the total feeling of desolation one could experience – the type of places we love to go to and experience.

We honestly hope to get back there at some stage.
