This is one of those magical places ideally situated for a weekend break from either Pretoria or Johannesburg. Only a few kilometres from Hekpoort will you find Olive Tree Farm.  Five chalets are available for one or two persons each. We were allocated the thatch-roofed chalet number five.

We found the attention to detail astonishing – every possible thing one could need was available, plugs for chargers, umbrellas, shampoos and soaps, candles and matches, just too many to mention. This chalet is a fully equipped self-catering unit with en suite bathroom – a large bathtub with a spacious shower.

The large and luxurious bathroom was a treat, and the hospitality and friendliness of the owners were most welcome.

A continental breakfast can be served on request – we did and had absolutely no regrets. A swimming pool is available for warmer days. A number of farmers with adjacent ground have dropped fences and established a game reserve. Guests are welcome to explore that by foot or bicycle.  There is no dangerous game so all is good.

Was there anything we did not like? Absolutely not.

Will we go back? Anytime – even if it is only to take a shower!
