Swadini, a Forever Resorts resort, is situated at the foot of the Drakensberg Mountains, just under 40 kilometers to the South-West of Hoedspruit. A variety of self-catering chalets and luxury tents are available. We were on a camping road trip so camping it was.
Camping sites have electricity and ablution facilities are clean and adequate. Laundromat facilities are also available. Most sites are well-grassed but here-and-there you may find a bit of gravel and a small stone-covered site. The camping sites, unfortunately, are a fair distance from the swimming pools, restaurant, and kiosk so prepare for a walk if you go swimming and if you plan on buying ice cream we suggest you rather take a vehicle – else you will only have a milkshake by the time you get back to camp!
The site we had was right against a river (with a fence between). The soothing sound of the running water was the best.
This is a family orientated resort and a number of activities and holiday programs are geared towards keeping the kids busy and let parents have a rest. Heated pools, putt-putt, restaurants, a shop, cold swimming pool, tennis courts, jungle gyms, and outdoor chess to name a few. In the area, you will also have access to hiking trails, MBT facilities, horse-riding, kloofing, and boat trips.
If the Kruger National Park is in your aim you could easily do a day trip there using Swadini as a base. The Drakensberg Escarp is just above your head so a day trip to places like the Three Rondavels, a number of waterfalls, Blyde Gorge, Graskop Gorge, and Pelgrimsrust are all within easy reach.
This is simply a lovely resort and we have been there a couple of times. Every time worth it.
