Leopard Rock Coffee Shop and Lookout Chalets are located in the Oribi Gorge area, not too far from port Shepstone. Four chalets on the edge of a cliff offer accommodation for singles or couples. There are three standard chalets and one Honeymoon Suite. We were fortunate to be allocated the Honeymoon Suite.
Our chalet had a fully equipped kitchen, king-size bed, large spa bathtub, outside shower, and private deck with magnificent views over the Umzimkulu River Gorge. There is a Coffee Shop (this is where it all started) serving coffee, meals, and superb views.
We loved the mechanic working on an old Merc in the parking area, the magnificent views from the coffee shop and equally magnificent views from our chalet. Waking up in the morning with clouds and water below us was the best.
The famous Leopard Rock where many a photograph and film was taken is on this property. For a small fee, you can also walk out there and go take a photo or two. A number of attractions are to be found in close vicinity like Lake Eland Reserve and Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve. We were also fortunate to pay a visit to the Oribi Vulture Viewing Hide.
Was there anything we did not like? Nope, all was good. All was excellent!
Will we go back? Definitely! There is no doubt about this. This probably was one of the most enjoyable self-catering places we visited.
